Publication Announcement: Dr. Kaltrina Kelmendi’s Fulbright Research Project Published in the Trauma, Violence, & Abuse Academic Journal

Fulbright Visiting Scholar, Dr. Kaltrina Kelmendi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Prishtina "Hasan Prishtina", recently marked a significant scientific achievement, her research was published in the prestigious Trauma, Violence, & Abuse Academic Journal.

This paper comes as a result of Dr. Kelmendi’s joint work with Prof. Dr. Sherry Hamby, completed during her 2020/21 Fulbright Visting Scholar Program experience at the University of the South in Sewanee, TN, in the United States. Together with Prof. Dr. Hamby, Dr. Kelmendi has researched the existing literature on the construct of resilience in Southeast European countries, known for war and trauma, with a particular focus on Kosovo.

The results of the paper present the findings on the construct of resilience in collectivist societies, emphasizing the importance of dignity, solidarity, social activism, and state-building as some of the important forces that promote resilience. The findings also emphasize the importance of designing studies with a participatory approach to better understand the cultural values ​​that promote resilience in this context, and using these findings to promote psychological well-being.
